Make a Referral

Young people may be referred to the project by a number of agencies including both statutory and voluntary, by the family of a young person or by the young person themselves.

When the completed referral is returned and the all appropriate information has been ascertained, information about the project will normally be sent out. The referral will then be given to one our workers for action. The worker dealing with the referral will contact the family or young person, to arrange either a house visit or a meeting at school.

The YCP aims to work with young carers in a way that reflects the principles stated in the United Convention on the Rights of the Child. YCP staff can therefore meet with young carers without parental consent – but only during school time.
