The Young Carers Project has been successfully working with young people since 2000. Our remit is to find hidden young carers and raise awareness of young carers issues.
The Young Carers Project is funded through the Dundee Community Regeneration Fund.
Due to particular family situations many young people do not want to be identified as young people who are caring, they do not want to be singled out as different. They are often excluded from the normal childhood support networks.
The Young Carers Project has therefore a remit to try and include young people and children up to the age of 18, who through family illness do not receive the support and services that others in an exclusive society expect.
The Young Carers Project is managed by the Princess Royal Trust for Carers, Dundee Carers Centre, a charitable organisation nationally recognised for its work with carers.
