Youth Achievement Awards...                view purposes & principles

In January 2004 more staff joined the Young Carers Project. With more workers the services of the organisation could be increased.

One of these services is the Youth Achievement Award Scheme. These awards enable the older young carers to work towards certificates. These certificates vary in level from Bronze to Platinum. The level the young person attains depends on their level of participation.

To explain, if a young person has limited time or is unsure about getting involved with the awards, they can work towards the Bronze Level. This involves joining in an activity, discussing it with other and getting to know the other young people. If the young person completes all that whilst getting involved in the planning of the activity/event then the Silver or Gold Level is in their grasp!!

Through the whole process of working towards the awards the Youth Worker will be there to give guidance and encouragement. These awards are recognised in schools and colleges even though they can be completed outside.

If you are tempted or just want to know more, get in touch with Marley by contacting the office on 01382 224324.
